ARCHIVES 2014-15

On 12th August, 2014, Librarian’s Day was celebrated by BKC Knowledge Network in association with IASLIC. Librarian Madhuri Navare participated in a video shoot competition organized on this occasion. The competition was to shoot anything related to library and submitting a video clip of it. She prepared a three minutes video clip on five laws of library science. The objective behind the clip was to point up importance of referring print books and not depending entirely on internet media for gaining basic and theoretical knowledge of any subject.


Display of books:

In the current academic year the library held 5 Thematic Display of Library Resources in various subjects with a view to enable the students and staff to get an overview of the resources available in the library. Themes of display were based on the topics as general science reference, entrance exam reference books, science experiments books, thesauruses and encyclopedias, literature books.   

Other activities:

1) On 18th December 2014, Library Staff arranged the celebration of “World Arabic Language Day” The students from F.Y.B.A & S.Y.B.A attended the event. Head of the Department of Politics - Dr Saraswati Unni and Prof Sangeeta graced the occasion with their presence.
2) On the occasion of World Thesaurus Day 18th January 2015, subject thesaurus and dictionaries were exhibited in the library. A total of 250 students from senior and junior section visited book exhibition. Librarian introduced students to exhibition and different types of thesaurus and dictionaries.
3) The 3rd intercollegiate fest for non-teaching staff, “UNMESH” was organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of college on 25th February 2015.
This year the theme of the workshop was “Effective Library Management” for library staff of colleges across Mumbai.
The objective of the workshop was to enlighten the library staff about their work and role as an integral part of library and the importance of team work in effective functioning of library.
Forty (40) participants from 27 colleges attended the workshop.
